Planning on coming to VWF for the first time? Returning for the second (or fifth!) time? Here’s a preview of what you can expect at this year’s three-day festival and conference:
Digital storytelling on display: In just a few short years, the digital storytelling market has expanded from simple YouTube or self-hosted videos to include series and shorts produced by major players such as Netflix and Amazon. The devices we use to watch stories has also transformed from desktops to VR headsets and Google Cardboard. To give you a taste of the best storytelling out there, we’ll be screening work creators around the globe — for free!
Network and be inspired: Need advice on funding a project? Looking for people to collaborate with? Curious to hear what others are up to? We’ll have representatives from Telefilm, Storyhive, CreativeBC, and plenty of industry influencers.
Learn: Workshops this year will offer focused insight into VFX for indie producers; going mainstream; women in the media; crowdfunding; and getting the most out of Adobe Creative Cloud.
VR boot camp: What are the best tools and practices? How do you progress from idea to production to distribution? This half-day crash course will set you up to experiment with VR storytelling.
Awards gala: Dress up and join us in celebrating some of the best digital stories produced by creators around the globe. Be sure to check out this year’s official selections beforehand.
Get your tickets early, and we’ll see you April 19-21!
